This table lists the first time I've flown in specific U.S. airliners. The first section lists those airlines that predominately operated jets, though some turboprops may have still been in operation as well.
The planes listed within each airline were those in active service when I started keeping track of the planes I fly in. I even list airlines I didn't fly in that were in existence but have become
fallen flags either through merger, name change, or out of business. Some U.S. cargo airlines operated limited passenger services (e.g. UPS 727-100, Seaboard 747-200 in the upper deck) but I only list the Flying Tigers types used for passengers since I flew in one across the Pacific. Conversely, if a predominately passenger airline also operated all-cargo types, I don't list those (e.g. HA L-188F, United DC-8F) In the remarks I make note of aircraft aquired through merger. If a type was aquired through merger but the survivor already operated the type, I don't mention that fact. For example, UA operated 757-200s prior to merging with Continental so I don't say "ex Continental" in the United 757-200 column. At the bottom of the table I have also listed commuter/regional aircraft and foreign airliners flown in. |
