After spending Christmas Break in Denver I flew back to Northern California on Braniff International. I was elated to find a DC-8 parked at the gate when I arrived at Stapleton. I wasn't feeling all that great that day, but I did manage to snap a photo of the plane from the terminal after walking down the airstairs.
Below is my photo of N1808E (later deduced from the fleet number 808 on the nose gear door) at Oakland on January 1st, 1979. And if you compare the darker red paint on the rear fuselage with this photo you can also make the connection. The only other -62 in these colors was N1806 and it didn't have the dark red paint patch.
Backing up a bit, below are some photos from after boarding in DEN. I re-scanned all the photos in December 2020 from 41-year old negatives.
