After a great day of photography, I boarded my United DC-8-52 N8068U for the flight to Denver. Originally I was booked on Continental #26 departing at 2:45am on the 10th - I have the CO ticket stock. However
at some point I must have changed the booking to this UA flight as I have the UA ticket jacket and baggage claim check ticket.
A look back at historic timetables shows the UA flight departing LAX at 9:50pm and
arriving DEN at 12:50am next day. My UA ticket jacket shows I was in seat 6F...and the onboard photos would confirm that. Another thing that sticks out in my mind was the obvious full moon during
the flight. Since I was on the starboard side of the plane, facing south, the moon was prominent all during my flight. One of my photos at LAX after boarding shows the blurry moon
in the sky. A little research with 'Stellarium' software shows it was about 20 degrees above the horizon at 9:30pm. During the flight the moon would've continued to rise higher in the sky and I
distinctly remember how much the surrounding landscape was illuminated upon arrival in Denver some time after midnight.
Below are some photos from this flight.
