While TDY to Fairbanks I travelled to Barrow, Alaska over the Memorial Day weekend. I did this for several reasons: Birding; Be above the Arctic Circle; Hoping to see the Midnight Sun.

Below are two photos taken at midnight local time looking out over the Arctic Ocean.
The sun was not due north in this photo at midnight nor was it at its' lowest
point above the horizon.
Those two events would occur 02:24am at an elevation of 2° and azimuth of 0°.
