Labor Day weekend 2016 and I made two day trips to Denver to photograph planes. I stayed in Concourse A both trips for the entire day each time.
Now that I'd flown on 50% of the current Frontier A321 fleet, my chances of getting a new tail were going to start decreasing.
I didn't check which tail would be operating
today's flight 757 to Denver so when I arrived PHX at 3AM and saw "Steve The Eagle" parked at Gate 20, I was pleased.
I took the customary photo from the Air Train station
at Terminal 3 before proceeding to a smooth TSA transition.
Below is my photo of N709FR at PHX gate 20 prior to my flight to Denver followed by the Flight Aware screenshot.
We taxi out to runway 7 for departure...at DEN we land on 16R.
After a pretty nice day at DEN it was time to head back to PHX. During the day I researched which tail would be on #757 to PHX and found it was Ferndale. I'd already flown on Ferndale so now
I'd get not one, but two more flights on it over the weekend. I tracked it during the day on Flight Aware as it operated from Orlando to St. Louis to Las Vegas and then to Denver for my flight.
Below is my photo of N705FR approaching the gate in Denver as #778 from Las Vegas.
Below that is the Flight Aware screenshot.
Departure time (930pm) came and went and we're wondering what's going on. The nice lady Captain comes back out about 950pm and announces we've "lost" our GPS and the pilots are going to have earn their
pay tonight and fly the plane to Denver the old-fashioned way. After a few more minutes of documenting the maintenance issue we're on our way.
We taxi to 17R and take off to the south...in PHX we shoot a straight-in arrival to 26.
