When I returned from Barrow on Saturday evening (a day earlier than expected) I had more than a full day to spend in Anchorage. Rather than leave the airport I decided I wanted to do some
more flying...hopefully by using some of my Alaska frequent flyer miles. I got on the phone with Alaska Airlines and they helped me book a round trip from Anchorage to Barrow on the "milk run"
service the next day routing Anchorage-Deadhorse-Barrow-Fairbanks-Anchorage. True, I would be on the same airplane the whole routing but what the heck. Flights within Alaska "cost" 7500 miles
one-way so as far as value for the money is concerned it was a fairly expensive trip considering I can fly from Phoenix to Barrow on three flights for 12,500 miles.
So after a nice sit-down dinner at an Asian restaurant in the terminal I tried to get some rest...usually not very easy for me in an airport terminal. They're just not designed for comfortable
sleeping in most cases.
Sunday morning was finally here and I queued up to board Alaska #55 from Anchorage to Barrow via Deadhorse. 737-400 "Combi" N762AS was at the gate and hopefully would be my steed for the rest
of the day as we made a three-stop flight from Anchorage back to Anchorage.
Because I'd made the reservation less than 12-hours before the only seat available to me was in the middle seat of the very front row: 17B. Thankfully the initial flight would be the only flight
of the day I'd have to be sandwiched between two other passengers.
I introduced myself to the forward flight attendant and explained to her I would be flying on this flight for the entire trip...she was pretty amused.
Below is my photo of N762AS at Anchorage just prior to boarding via the rear airstairs. The second photo shows N762AS at Barrow after I went inside to check-in for my return flight to Anchorage via Fairbanks.
Below that are the FlightAware screenshots of the four flight segments.
