For the Christmas weekend 2016 I booked a "last-minute" trip to Oahu to search for Bristle-thighed Curlew birds on their wintering grounds. It was the Wednesday night prior to Christmas that I made my
reservations via the HA website with a Saturday morning departure on HA 35...a flight I'd seen flying towards Hawaii many times in the past few years while out birding in the morning.
To maximize the flights I booked a multi-city itinerary that would enable me to fly aboard all three current HA types: 767-300, 717-200, and A330-200. During booking the only seats available on the 767
were center section so I took an aisle seat. Before boarding I was standing at the podium to see if any window seats were available...in fact one had just opened up so I was happy to accept one over the wing.
Below is my photo of 767-300(ER) N583HA at the PHX gate prior to departure on Christmas Eve morning.
Below that is the Flight Aware screenshot of my flight.
