This trip was planned so I could get a fairly cheap ride on a Spirit A319 from LAX to DEN on Saturday 12 February. After arriving DEN I mostly watched Frontier planes from the pedestrian bridge at A Concourse. To get
to LAX for the Spirit A319 ride back to Denver I was going to ride a Spirit A321. I tracked the plane, flight 478, from when it was just about to arrive Chicago from Fort Lauderdale and then again when it was enroute to
Denver. As it pulled into the gate I got my obligitory photo then headed down to gate A52. Soon it became apparent there was a problem with the plane and we were delayed an hour or so...until 4pm at least. I started
looking for options to get to LAX so I could meet the Spirit A319 flight back to Denver but flights on other airlines were not compatible with making the connection. In the end I just scrubbed the Spirit roundtrip, with Spirit
giving me a refund for both flight segments. These two Spirit flights were relatively cheap...only $88 round trip including my seat selection.
Not wanting to spend the entire evening and night at Denver International in the dark I booked a United Airlines flight back to PHX for a nice sum of $36. The only problem is I had my Frontier flight back to Denver on
Sunday afternoon. I searched for affordable fares to get BACK to Denver on Sunday morning for more plane watching but they were all relatively expensive...upwards of $180 and more. In the end I just scrubbed coming back to
Denver on Sunday and ate the $49 Frontier fare.
So, I watched planes for a while longer and headed over to B Concourse when it was time for my flight. The plane had come in from PHX a couple hours earlier and sat at B38 the whole time. Like my Southwest flight to Denver
the flight was mostly full but the "B" seat remained empty...always nice to have a little extra elbow room.
Below is my photo of N62884 at gate B38 prior to my flight to PHX. Below that is the FlightAware screenshot of the flight.
