After a couple of cool days flying to some European cities on Tarom and SAS and a nice Saturday watching planes from my room on the top floor of the Renaissance Hotel it was time to head home on the Sunday morning.
I was up quite early to pack my gear and get to the bus station for the quick ride to Heathrow Central bus station. From there it was a bit of a walk to Terminal 3 to get through security but that was a relatively painless and
quick process.
Once through security I found myself in the busy duty free shopping area with food choices. I got some breakfast (another "Ploughmans" sandwich, orange, and sweet.) I also bought some confectionary and various small souveniers
at one of the shops. Then it was time to find a window with a view so I could spend a couple hours watching planes before my flight to Los Angeles.
Eventually I sorted out a suitable viewing area along the pier with gates 1-7. You can get right up to the windows but if a flight will be departing from the gate any time soon the staff will ask you to move along. I found this a
bit annoying but never did I argue the point...I just found another empty gate.

Below is my photo of 787-9 G-VFAN "Pin Up Girl" at gate 16 at London Heathrow prior to my flight to LAX. Coincidentally the A340-600 in the background is G-VFIZ, the plane which brought me to LHR earlier in the week. :-)
Chicken curry meal aboard the 787-9...it was actually quite tasty with a bit of kick to it.
