After getting to SFO we find out our flight to PDX was severely delayed....with a departure several hours late. Our flight crew was piloting a 737 inbound from Miami and they were late departing as well.
United did a fairly smart thing and got everybody onboard the aircraft even before the flight crew showed up...all we had to do was wait for them. The did show up in due course, took care of the formalities and we were eventually enroute to Portland.
