After watching the American Airlines 787-8 land at PHX in the dark a couple of weeks ago I searched for a way to fly onboard an American 787 out of Phoenix. I found a flight operating on Saturday the 29th and
after some online fumbling I managed to book a flight using Alaska miles. I also secured one of the last window seats on the flight...and it was very near the back of the plane. Worked for me.
Despite having to work late into Friday night I made it to the airport Saturday morning a couple of hours before flight time. There was virtually no waiting at TSA for T4 so I breezed through. After checking out the
plane at the gate as the sun rose, I made my way to the far west end of T4 to sit and watch planes on the cross taxiway and charge my phone.
