So after 40 hours at LAX the inaugural scheduled service for United's 787-10 is preparing to depart LAX Monday morning. The weather at LAX was rainy and reverse operations are in effect. In the gate area
there is some evidence a special event is taking place but nothing super extravagant.
After arrival at EWR there is a lot of press present as well as a nice spread of food. Would have been nice to have some food at LAX prior to departure...guess they didn't think that departure warranted the
expense...
After boarding we had a bit of a wait until departure but we were on our way on time. Because we were going to take off to the east we had a more lengthy taxi than we would have otherwise. I was hoping we'd go out on
the south complex e.g. 7L or 7R but when we made a right turn after passing the TBIT I realized we were on our way to the north complex for a depature off either 6L or 6R. It was well past day break but with the
lousy weather the windows were covered in raindrops. I did get to see some parts of LAX I don't normally see from an airplane, like the Fedex hangar area and the remote parking spots.
After our lengthy taxi we waited for an arrival on 6R then took our position for departure.
