Over the Christmas Break I made a short-notice weekend Christmas trip to Denver courtesy of the In-Laws. My wife Karen and I made our first flight together on a Sun Aire Metro I from
Santa Maria to LAX.
Our evening flight to Denver was on a tasty United DC-8-61. Little did we know that we landed just ahead of what was to become one of
the worst snowstorms in Denver history.
Below is my photo of N5336M on the commuter ramp at LAX after our flight from Santa Maria. The lighting reflects the very low sun-angle on this day after the 1982 Winter Solstice. We landed at 4:48pm
and sunset was at 4:50pm.
Honestly, it was only some years later that I realised this was a rare round-windowed
Metroliner I.
