My second flight of 2020 is the whole reason for this two-day trip. I'm hoping to fly transcon aboard an Alaska Airlines A321neo in full paint. Ten A321s are
in service with Alaska and two of them are in More To Love colors. I'd flown in a More To Love (N926VA) from LAX to SFO back in July 2018. In the mean time, Alaska has
repainted the previously-delivered Virgin America A321s into full Alaska colors, except for the two in More To Love colors. Alaska has taken delivery of three more
A321s making a total of 10 in service.
After my flight from Phoenix on the Sunday morning and then watching birds and planes all day from Bayfront Park near the airport, I had a nice night in a hotel
with a balcony along the waterfront. Jet noise doesn't really bother me so the airport traffic was like music to my ears. I was up early to catch the airport
shuttle at 5am.
I had a fairly lengthy wait in the pre-dawn darkness once inside terminal D (old international concourse). Another flight was at my gate D4 that needed to depart
before my 8am departure to DCA.
Below is my photo of N928VA taxying to gate D4 for my flight to DCA. The black dots on this terminal's windows make photography challenging and some are barely visible
in this photo.
