The last scheduled pilot training TDY for our company was this two-week trip to Portland, Oregon.
I got to the airport several hours before flight time. I parked off-airport at a hotel and caught the shuttle to terminal 4. Once through TSA I settled into my normal plane-watching location near the Peet's Coffee at the top of
A Concourse. The weather started getting interesting and during my time watching planes I saw a dust storm, rain, go-arounds by a bunch of flights, etc.
Eventually I made my way over to my D Concourse gate and watch planes from there until boarding time. The weather was still a minor factor but it seemed the worst of it had moved past the airport.
Once through the entry door I noticed seat 1F (bulkhead) was available so I stowed my gear and settled into my window seat for the evening flight to Portland.
N7733B at gate D7 prior to boarding for Portland, Oregon.
