In December 1984 I departed my first duty station and began my journey to my second duty station: RAF Alconbury, England. I spent most of December in Denver with the folks, making a trip
to Seattle in the truck with them during the month. For my trip to the East Coast, I originally bought a ticket on Frontier Horizon (a 727-100) to LaGuardia but when I found out Continental's
fares to Newark were cheaper, I switched. In hindsight, I wish I'd stuck with the Frontier Horizon since they soon ceased operations. Continental's MD-80s were fairly new at the time, and
I got a ride on N807NY to Newark, where my buddy Adrian Smith met me and I stayed with he and his family in Elizabeth over the new year. On the 2nd of January, we dropped Adrian off at
LaGuardia for his trip back to Phoenix and then his folks were kind enough to take me to JFK where I waited all day for my trans-atlantic flight to London.
Below is my photo of N807NY taking off at Burbank, CA a few months before I flew it from Denver to Newark.
