Aeromoe's Version of Joe Orman's Naked-Eye 100 List

Number 40: Full Moon

Unfortunately, my first full moon "rising" since beginning this list was clouded out. But by the time midnight rolled around the skies were only partly cloud so I stepped outside and snapped off a few frames with my digital SLR. The photo above is a result of my meager efforts. Levels adjusted with photo-imaging software.

Below is a photo of the rising full moon (in this case the Harvest Moon) on September 23, 2010.

Over ten years into this list now and I was hoping to catch the Halloween 2020 Full Blue Moon rising. As luck would have it the eastern horizon was covered with clouds. Indeed, much of the sky was cloudy.

There was hope as Halloween evening progressed and I was finally able to snap a few photos of the full moon quite high in the sky before midnight and the beginning of November.

Additionally, Nov 1 is also the end of Daylight Saving Time for 2020 as November 1st is currently the earliest date DST can end.

Below is my photo from 31 October 2020 at 2315hrs local MST. According to Heavens Above the moon was 61.5° above the horizon and at azimuth 129.3°.
Full Moon had officially occured some 16 hours prior, on Halloween morning, so there is some evidence of a terminator along the top of the moon in this image.
