Aeromoe's Version of Joe Orman's Naked-Eye 100 List
Number 63: Orion
A snapshot taken on 17 March 1994 of part of the constellation Orion.
Since beginning this list, my first official glimps of Orion was at about 0500hrs on 2 August 2010. The eastern sky was partly cloudy and the Arizona sky was starting to brighten up, but I caught
a glimpse of Betelgeuse, Bellatrix, Rigel and the two of the three belt stars. Conveniently, these stars were all within clearings in the clouds and the belt starts
were basically vertical in the sky. It was a neat sight...I'm really looking forward to exploring Orion later in the year when he's high in the winter sky.
Below is a photo of Orion rising in the eastern sky on August 15, 2010.
